Christmas Arrived Early…
It looks like Christmas arrived a little early here at Nest Designs LLC. Thank you to Sherwin Williams for the awesome color products! I can’t wait to put them to use. The Josef Albers books, Interaction of Color, will get plenty of use over the next few years.
The color tools and prizes were sent to me for a color scheme that I submitted for the Sherwin Williams Pin You Perfect Palette Sweepstakes. To see my color palette entry, please visit my Pinterest page.
Pencil Installation
This great sculpture, made from #2 pencils, was made to commemorate significant moments during the University of Minnesota’s 100 year history. While the materials that were used are not complex, the finished sculpture is very complex. For more information about this piece, or to read the entire article click here.
Bruce Munro at the Franklin Park Convservatory
There is just something magical about this sculptural lighting exhibit at the Franklin Park Conservatory. I was lucky enough to visit the Conservatory while this installation, by Bruce Munro, is on display. Munro’s lighting sculptures capture the versatility of fiber optic lighting. The only limitation to this medium is the imagination. I definitely recommend viewing this show during the evening for the full affect.
Real World Design Week
Real World Design Week (RWDW) is here again! The American Society of Interior Designers promotes this event geared at pairing interior design students with design professionals. RWDW allows an interior design student to experience a typical day in the interior design field, by shadowing a professional for a day. Part of that experience can include; visiting working construction sites, attending client meetings, discussions with contractors and clients, looking for materials and really getting a sense of how projects come together. It also gives the student an opportunity to ask questions directly to a designer. I am really looking forward to having a student shadow me for a day again this year.
