Kitchen design and redesign are familiar projects for Nest Design LLC. Over the years there have been numerous kitchen remodel projects from newer construction to historic homes.

Living Room and Casual Dining Room

I was contacted by my client to help them furnish their casual dining room, add carpeting, update lighting, add window treatments and update the paint colors. We also added a gorgeous tile back-spalsh in the kitchen. The top image shows the over-all improvements. The over-sized, rustic light chandelier is the perfect addition to the living room. It’s visual, casual and impressive.  The custom made area rugs in the living room and casual dining room help define both spaces in this open floor-plan. The window treatments add color and style to both spaces. I love the new dining table and chairs. By adding a round table, we were able to maximize the number of guests that can be seated comfortably in this space.

Nest Designs was hired by the homeowner’s to assist them with all of the interior design decisions for their new home. From the day we broke ground until the owners moved in, it was a fantastic project. The basic kitchen layout was drawn up by the architect. I then sourced out WoodMode cabinetry and worked directly with Cathy from Auer Kitchens and homeowner to create this space. I selected all of the finish products and the homeowner selected the Thermador appliances. The counter-tops are quartz, the sinks are silgranite, the faucets are Brizo, the island hood is from Thermador, the pendants are from TECH lighting, the wall sconce (in the background) is from Hubbardton Forge and we also used LED tape to light the clerestory. Diane at Premiere Lighting was integral in getting the right lighting products for the entire house. The builder, Ken Struewing, did a beautiful job putting all of these components together. This image shows a little more of the detail of the island. Cathy, of Auer Kitchens, and Nest Designs LLC worked closely with the homeowners to create this amazing island. The homeowners wanted bead board on the face (front side) of the island. The dual-height island adds an element of visual interest while giving the homeowners two separate work zones. The dual height also breaks up the visual weight of this large island. There is a bar sink on the island and a full sized kitchen sink (not pictured) in front of the window wall. The quartz counter-tops are spectacular in person. The back-splash is a simple subway tile with a soft gray grout. The grout color really ties the counter-tops and the back-splash together. The builder, Ken Struewing, did a fabulous job executing this space. Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.

Greene County Fireplace, Cabinetry and Living Area.

This image captures the see-thru fireplace wall, the seating area at the end of the office desk and the edge of the custom bookcase that I designed. It also shows the overall layout of the living level of this home. This image also shows off the beautiful clerestory roof and the LED lighting that illuminates the clerestory. The TECH cable lighting spans the width of the house and disappears when you are in this space. The rust colored paint on the fireplace wall adds a pop of color and really warms up the office and dining room (not pictured). Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.

This image gives you a more detailed look at the custom cabinetry that I designed for the office. The cantilevered shelves give the bookcases a visual line of interest and compliment the lines throughout the house. Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.

This image captures the overall living level of the home. You can see how the seating area is situated in front of the dining area. The see-thru fireplace wall divides the office from the rest of the space. The clerestory roof created a lighting challenge since we were not able to put electric into the roof. The TECH cable lighting system was used throughout the house and gives the owners the flexibility to move the individual heads along the cables as needed. The light heads also rotate 360 degrees. We also added LED lighting under the clerestory windows as a secondary source of lighting. The space glows at night when the LED lights are being used. The house is absolutely magical in person. Centerville Kitchen Remodel

Nest Designs was contacted by a homeowner who was ready for a change to his existing kitchen. The above image is what his kitchen looked like before the renovation.

Here is what his kitchen looks like now. As you can see, we removed several walls and opened up the kitchen into the living area. That was just the start of the transformation. My design also added a dual height island with seating for four. New flooring, new granite counter-tops, a new lighting plan and a peninsula hood are also part of the this space’s transformation. You can see how the two colors of kitchen cabinetry play against each other in this image. There are also two different types of granite on the counter-tops. Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.

Spring Valley Kitchen Remodel

Spring Valley Kitchen Remodel

There were some major changes in this kitchen renovation. The first thing Nest Designs created was a u-shaped kitchen floor-plan that incorporated a breakfast bar/peninsula with two different heights for the counter-tops. The homeowner’s requested that their existing flooring be incorporated into the new design and that is the only part of the old kitchen that remains.

The soapstone counter-tops really compliment the custom cherry cabinetry. Nest Designs selected gorgeous slate tile for the back-splash. All new stainless steel appliances, a contemporary island hood and great lighting fixtures (selected by the homeowner’s) really add to the transformation of this kitchen. And yes, that is a soapstone sink. After photos by Bealer Photographic Arts.
