This was a great renovation project. The original bathroom had a soaker tub located directly under the window. By eliminating the soaking tub, we were able to move the location of the bathroom door. The new configuration allowed for a storage bench and extended shower in lieu of the soaking tub. Moving the doorway towards the window also gave the vanity area (not pictured) better use of the bathroom space. Porcelain tile give the look of a stone material without all of the maintenance. Nest Designs was called in to help the homeowner’s select the finish materials and paint color for their hall bathroom. The use of the tile all the way to ceiling in the shower area makes this space feel bigger.  The dark vanity looks great against the warm tones in the travertine tile. The oil rubbed bronze finish on the vanity light ties the fixture with the vanity. Sherwin Williams Oyster Bay is the wall color. Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.

The same house that is pictured above, but this image is of the master bathroom. I worked with a local contractor to design the floor-plan, design the vanity and select the tile, counter-top, light fixtures, and paint color. The lower portion of the windows are frosted to give the homeowner’s more privacy. The walk-in shower is located behind the vanity wall. Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.

Nest Designs participated in the DPVA’s Designer Show House for the third consecutive year. At the end of the room selection process, I was fortunate to get the Master Bathroom. As you can see from the before image, the bathroom already had a nice layout. I decided to leave all the existing tile work, vanity, bathtub and flooring. I even kept the red walls but changed the shade of red to a more vibrant color for this space. As you can see from the images below a color change with some fun accent pieces can really transform a space.

Here is the after photo of the Master Bathroom. Nest Designs changed the wall color to Sherwin-Williams Cherry Tomato SW6864. I found the man and woman wall vases online and knew instantly that they were going to be the focal point of the bathroom. I decided to hang them en mass on the walls. To add a punch of color, I added lime green spider mums. Those selections resulted in a space that was vivid, fun and energetic. Photos by Bealer Photographic Arts.

When work began in this space, we had roughed in plumbing and a Jacuzzi tub.  No sinks, no lights, no running water, no electricity and no cabinetry. After a few weeks of hard work by an professional interior designer and skilled contractors, this bathroom was transformed. There is a new tile deck surrounding the tub, a new custom vanity, new granite counter-tops, a glass shower enclosure, and new tile on the walls of the walk in shower. This bathroom transformation was spectacular. We had a very tight time-line and needed to use materials that were readily available for a quick renovation. Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.

The end results are amazing. The use of subway tile and glass mosaic tile still lend to the character of this historic house but allow the master bathroom to have an updated look that will stand the test of time. Photo by Bealer Photographic Arts.
